Tigerwood, also known as Goncalo Alves, is one of the most exotic looking woods. Its beauty comes from the different colors of its grain. The wood can have beautiful dark streaks running the length of the yellow to pale orange board. Tigerwood is a species from Brazil and shares many properties with exotic hardwoods such as strength, density, and durability.
Tigerwood can be hard to work with. Its dense, tightly packed wood fibers make it a difficult wood to cut. High-quality blades are recommended when cutting. If you plan on using screws, it’s highly recommended to predrill each hole to minimize the risk of stripping or breaking screws.
All of our Tigerwood slabs come from our Brazilian mills. We are the mills, so we can ensure that all of our woods come from well-managed forests and are harvested sustainably.
